Hospice care is a specialized type of medical and supportive care for individuals nearing the end of life, focusing on comfort and quality of life rather than cure. It is provided by an interdisciplinary team of professionals, including doctors, nurses, social workers, and chaplains, who work to manage a patient's pain and other symptoms while offering emotional and spiritual support to both the patient and their family. Hospice can be provided in a patient's home or a home-like setting and is for those with a terminal illness who have a prognosis of six months or less, with the option to stop hospice care at any time to pursue curative treatment.

Palliative care is a specialized medical approach focused on improving the quality of life for people with serious illnesses by managing symptoms and stress. It provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support and can be given alongside curative treatments, at any stage of an illness. A team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and others works with the patient and family to create a care plan that aligns with the individual's goals and values
